Thank you for expressing interest in the Von Wedel Montessori School.  We are always on the lookout for excited, enthusiastic, and energetic applicants interested in sharing in our vision of the Montessori experience.

Our teaching staff currently focuses on the needs of children between 18 months and 9 years of age, and divides into two main groupings:  Leads (Directresses) and Assistants.  At Von Wedel, Lead Teachers need to be Montessorians hailing from the American Montessori Society, the Association Montessori Internationale, or one of the select programs advocated by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.  All are dedicated to the principles set forth over a hundred years ago and deeply committed to helping to carry Maria’s message into the here and now.

In contrast, while we encourage our Assistant Teachers to follow our Leads in terms of Montessori schooling, much of that training often begins after employment at Von Wedel.  (Montessori certification is not a necessary pre-requisite.)  It is important to realize, however, that Montessori education is the key to understanding the nature and manner of presentation of our various lessons.

Whether applying to Lead or Assist, do note that all of our teachers are required to meet the state of Florida’s minimum standards regarding child care.  This includes 40-clock-hours of Introductory Child Care training, 5-clock-hours of Early Literacy and Language Development, and 10-clock-hours of Annual In-service training completed between July 1 and June 30 of each year.

Again, we thank you for your interest and invite qualified educators to print and fill out our Application for Employment and either fax the completed Application with a current resume to (305) 893-1893, or submit both to our Main Office at 1235 NE 118th Street (Miami, FL 33161).
